About the Bridge

The Arthur Ravenel, Jr. Bridge opened on July 16, 2005, over a year ahead of its projected schedule. It is the longest cable-stayed bridge in the Western Hemisphere. We are especially proud that it bears the name of our company's founder, Arthur Ravenel, Jr., in recognition of his tireless efforts to secure funding for the bridge and his lifetime of service to South Carolina.
